Old dwellings and rubble are often given the label of historic site or removed for building purposes, but this old stone house was transformed into a modern dwelling rather than simply be demolished.

Located in Northern Portugal, the home was transformed from ruins to a [modern vacation home](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/estancia-san-jos) over the course of six or seven years. Architect Nuno Brandão Costa is the mind behind the project and has completely transformed the ruins into a modern space that is available for rental on [Airbnb](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-kinnakeet) for vacationers to enjoy as part of their journey.

The old stone house has been transformed into a modern living space with dining and cooking areas as well as three bedrooms and a lounge area for relaxing while outdoors.
