[Google](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mountain-view) Australia now houses old monorails in its Sydney offices, which they have refurbished from their abandoned state. What began as a joke from Google engineer Paul Cowan about installing the cars as a shuttle between spaces soon became a reality--sort of. While the monorail does not act as transportation, the cars are currently being used as [unconventional meeting spaces and conference rooms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mislad). The old monorail was also repainted to have a vibrant, under-the-sea theme.

The [Sydney Monorail](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foster-partners6) took the car out of rotation in June 2013 after having been in service for 25 years. The cars were lifted into the second storey offices using a crane to get it through the windows.
