A new public park is set to replace the Old Domino sugar factory in Brooklyn. The re-imagined space will serve as both an act to protect the surrounding area from the effects of climate change and a historic monument to the borough's roots.

The project is being fronted by [James Corner Field Operations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roof-garden) - the same landscape architecture firm that took on the transformation of the High Line, which now serves as one of New York's most popular tourist destinations. Once completed, the [gorgeous waterfront space](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jesselton-docklands) will boast public benches and lush greenery, that hopes to attract more people to the currently underused space. In an effort to preserve the city's history, the plans will maintain many of the old machinery that's found on the site, like conveyor belts and industrial vats.
