Oki Sato was born in Toronto, however he got his expertise and training in Tokyo. His [contemporary coffee table](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-table-designs) is both practical and marvelous. When Oki Sato was designing Dent he thought of how people use coffee tables and how things are placed on them. For the low table, Sato installed a literal dent on one side that provides a natural resting height for books, remotes and other objects. There is even a [place in the middle](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polka-coffee-table) that can handle a vase or other centerpieces. The idea for dent was for comfort, it was to act as a pocket in one's trousers. Oki Sato packages his dent idea in a very [sleek and minimalist](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/taarof-table) way, making it perfect for any modern-living space. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.7/10 - Popularity: 10% | Activity: 3% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Sunken Table Tops:** Designers can explore the use of sunken table tops to create practical and functional coffee tables. - **Minimalism Aesthetics:** Integrating minimalist aesthetics in furniture design can appeal to modern-living spaces and offer new design aesthetic opportunities. - **Comfort-driven Designs:** Designers can explore the use of comfort-driven designs to create functional furniture that meets user needs beyond aesthetics. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Design:** Furniture designers can explore the use of sunken table tops in coffee tables and integrate minimalist aesthetics and comfort-driven designs to create unique and practical products. - **Home Decor:** Home decor companies can explore the use of sunken table tops, minimalist aesthetics, and comfort-driven designs in creating exquisite furniture pieces that match modern living spaces. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can explore the use of sunken table tops, minimalist aesthetics, and comfort-driven designs as new design aesthetic opportunities that offer practical and functional benefits. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Wavy Sculptural Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-coffee-tables.md) - [Fluid Topographic Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dune-table.md) - [Japandi-Style Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cloth-coffee-table.md) - [Luxe Low-Slung Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/attraction-coffee-table.md) - [Artful Coffee Table Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vertushka.md) - [Curvaceous Animalistic Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookpet-coffee-table.md) - [Harmonious Helical Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vortex-coffee-table.md) - [Perplexingly Angular Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tadashi-side-table.md) - [Elegant Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tangent-table.md)
