# Assemblable Modular Cubbies The OH Cabinet Makes Lovely Solo Storage and Chic Stacked Shelving By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-01-26 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oh-cabinet References: [designspotter](http://www.designspotter.com/product/2012/01/OH-cabinet.html) & [gerarddehoop.nl](http://www.gerarddehoop.nl/products/storage/oh1.html) An assortment of varied items may find themselves lined along the ledges of a bookcase, demonstrating a need for customizable storage systems to meet diverse dimensional requirements. While the OH Cabinet does establish a few set parameters, its quirky modular shape allows its multiples to be arranged in an array of different configurations, providing shorter shelves, cubbies and open mantles. Each of the Gerard de Hoop units takes the shape of a rectilinear chalice which, when turned on its side, seems to form the conjoined letters O and H. The peculiar unenclosed composition of the individual modules allows many imaginative structures to be assembled so that the OH Cabinet compartments can suit a miscellany of your particular possessions. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.1/10 - Popularity: 68% | Activity: 47% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Customizable Storage Systems:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create a highly configurable and personalized storage solution that can adapt to diverse dimensional requirements. - **Modular Furniture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop modular furniture pieces that can be rearranged in various configurations for versatile use. - **Unenclosed Composition:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Design furniture with open and flexible structures that allow for imaginative assembly and customization. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore new ways of manufacturing furniture that enables customization and reconfiguration to meet individual needs. - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Provide interior design services that incorporate modular furniture solutions tailored to specific spatial requirements. - **Home Organization:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create innovative storage solutions that offer adaptable and versatile options for organizing various possessions in a home. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Modular Configured Office Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cabinet.md) - [Modular Configuration Shelving Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/repisa-01.md) - [Sandbox-Like Modular Storage Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-storage-cabinet1.md) - [Modular Storage Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-storage-cabinet.md) - [L-Shaped Stacked Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loft-shelf.md) - [Customizable Style-Conscious Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ledoux-modular-shelf-system.md) - [Adaptable Flat-Pack Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flat-pack-shelving.md) - [Flexible Storage Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brickbox-modular-shelving.md) - [Modular Decor Shelving Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/halblang-blendend.md)
