The playful juicing tool is a fun way for chefs to make the most of their citrus. As its name suggests, the Octo citrus reamer is shaped like an octopus (or squid, but only a marine biologist can settle that debate). Its upper body serves as a smooth grip, and twisting tentacles come to a point at the far end of the tool, helping to easily dig into the flesh of any citrus fruit. OTOTO's has a host of other animal-shaped kitchen accessories, such as an egg-slicer shaped like a humpback whale, a [tea infuser](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grim-reaper) shaped like the Loch Ness monster, and a ladle shaped like a swan. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.4/10 - Popularity: 96% | Activity: 87% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Kitchen](https://www.trendhunter.com/kitchen) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Animal-inspired Kitchen Accessories:** The market for homeware brands specializing in silicon utensils and tools fashioned after various animals has great potential to disrupt the traditional kitchen accessory industry. - **Playful Culinary Tools:** There is a growing trend of chefs and home cooks seeking out playful and unique tools, such as the Octo citrus reamer, to add an element of fun to their food preparation. - **Functional Design:** The Octo citrus reamer's design, with its smooth grip and twisting tentacles, provides a new level of functionality that can inspire innovation in other kitchen tools and utensils. ### Where This Applies - **Homeware:** Homeware brands like OTOTO have the potential to disrupt the traditional homeware industry with animal-inspired designs and functional tools. - **Kitchen Tools and Utensils:** The kitchen tools and utensils industry has an opportunity to capitalize on the growing trend of playful and functional culinary tools. - **Chef and Home Cooking:** The culinary industry can benefit from offering fun and functional tools like the Octo citrus reamer to appeal to chefs and home cooks alike. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Multi-Functional Pasta Spoons](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multifunctional-pasta-spoon.md) - [Quirky Spoon Holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ototo-and-everyplate.md) - [Vampire-Inspired Kitchen Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/garlic-crusher.md) - [Playful Sponge Holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sponge-holder1.md) - [Vitamin-Packed Citrus Juicers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/citring-one.md) - [Quirky Fungi Kitchenwares](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/magic-mushroom-funnel.md) - [Squid-Shaped Noodle Forks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ikr-fork.md) - [Textural Octopus Meat Alternatives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/revo-foods.md) - [Aesthetically Pleasing Citrus Juicers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hay-sowden-juicer.md)
