# Peculiar Pool Tables Obscura Cuelight Billiards Table Breaks Away from Standard Design By Alex Scott | Published 2010-01-30 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/obscura-cuelight-billiards-table References: [coolbuzz.org](http://www.coolbuzz.org/entry/calling-a-pool-table-cool-requires/) Now I’ve played on some pretty fancy tables in my day, but nothing quite like the Obscura Cuelight Billiards Table. The [first high-tech table ever built](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interactive-transformation-table), it features [motion detectors and sensors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vetrite) that track each individual ball and an overhead projector that links up with said sensors and reveals the image of a pinup girl as the balls pass over a certain area of the table. Depending where the cue balls are, they reveal a certain part of the image creating a ripple effect visual as the ball moves around the table. The Obscura Cuelight Billiards Table currently resides at the Esquire Magazine mansion and is the only one in existence. So sorry guys this puppy won’t be at any local pool halls anytime soon. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.8/10 - Popularity: 70% | Activity: 96% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Sports](https://www.trendhunter.com/sports) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **High-tech Billiards Tables:** Opportunity for innovators to create more advanced, interactive billiards tables with motion detectors, sensors, and projection technology. - **Custom Interactive Furniture:** Customizable tables and furniture with interactive features that track movement and create visual effects present unique design and innovation possibilities. - **Luxury Entertainment Systems:** Opportunity to create high-end entertainment systems for affluent consumers, featuring unique and rare pieces such as the Obscura Cuelight billiards table. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture:** Innovative furniture designers and manufacturers can incorporate motion detectors, sensors, and projection technology to create bespoke, interactive furniture pieces like the Obscura Cuelight Billiards Table. - **Entertainment:** High-end entertainment companies can incorporate custom, interactive pieces like the Obscura Cuelight Billiards Table into their offerings to attract affluent clients seeking unique entertainment experiences. - **Luxury:** Luxury brands can incorporate unique and rare pieces like the Obscura Cuelight Billiards Table into their products and offerings to appeal to high-end consumers seeking exclusive and one-of-a-kind items. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Miniature Toy Billiards Table](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vintage-billiards-table.md) - [Luxury Transparent Game Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/effetto-71-ping-pong-table.md) - [Pop Art-Inspired Foosball Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rs4-home-x-hey-foosball-table.md) - [All-Digital Pinball Machines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toyshock-21c-digital.md) - [Posh Pastel-Hued Game Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casablanca-ping-pong-table.md) - [Digitized Pinball Machines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/skillshot-fx-digital-pinball.md) - [Limited-Edition Foosball Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/afternoon-light.md) - [Optically-Designed Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/enigma-coffee-tables.md) - [Hybrid Party Game Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tiburon-tables.md)
