This new innovation from Nyrius plugs into existing wall outlets and uses Bluetooth technology to enable both on and off controls for anything plugged into the outlet. Through a mobile device like a smartphone, you can switch outlets and electronic devices into the on or off position at the touch of a button. Users can also set schedules and password protect custom-named devices through the app. The use of Bluetooth technology also means you don't need a constant Wi-Fi internet connection to pair up and communicate with devices. The technology only works within a Bluetooth range of about 33 feet, but it will allow for a degree of [mobile connected control](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-home-interfaces) with old technology that was previously unavailable. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.3/10 - Popularity: 45% | Activity: 77% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Bluetooth-enabled Outlets:** The integration of Bluetooth technology into power outlets offers new possibilities for wireless control of electronic devices. - **Mobile-connected Control:** The ability to control outlets and devices through a mobile app provides convenience and flexibility for users. - **Enhanced Security and Customization:** The feature to set schedules and password protect devices adds security and personalization to the wireless outlet experience. ### Who This Affects Most - **Smart Home Technology:** The integration of Bluetooth-enabled outlets contributes to the advancement of smart home technology, allowing for greater automation and control. - **Electronics Retail:** The availability of Bluetooth-enabled outlets creates new opportunities for electronics retailers to offer innovative products and solutions to their customers. - **Energy Management:** The use of mobile-connected control in outlets presents opportunities for energy management companies to develop smart solutions for optimized power consumption. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Energy-Monitoring Smart Outlets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eve-energy-outlet.md) - [Energy-Saving Smart Outlets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wall-outlet-h2.md) - [Smart Rgb Power Outlets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/invisoutlet-aura.md) - [Intelligent Exterior Outlets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wyze-plug-outdoor.md) - [Connected Weatherproof Outlets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ge-cync-outdoor-plug.md) - [Smart Home Lighting Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eve-energy-outlet-1.md) - [Surge Protector Outlet Extendors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-plug-outlet-extender.md) - [Aftermarket Home Automation Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-home-automation-switch.md) - [Modular Self-Monitoring Power Cubes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/teak-smart-cube.md)
