# Sharply Angled Abodes The Nth Fitzroy House by AM. Architecture is Modern and Sophisticated By Meghan Young | Published 2013-01-31 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nth-fitzroy-house References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2013/01/30/nth-fitzroy-house-by-am-architecture) & [am-architecture.net.au](http://am-architecture.net.au/) The Nth Fitzroy House is as [sharp and sophisticated](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flat-iron-house) as a freshly pressed suit. Of course, the sharp part can be taken a little more literally in this case. Its roof is [steeply angled](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/acute-house), giving it an edge that could cut if a person wasn't careful. This angle is repeated throughout the interior of the Nth Fitzroy House as well, to great effect. Designed by AM. Architecture, a firm based in Melbourne, Australia, the Nth Fitzroy House is full of natural light thanks to the [slew of windows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/waverley-house). According to the designers, "We searched for forms and materials that would create a relationship with the existing building but ultimately end up in a contemporary expression that would make no apology for being new." The succeeded in doing just that. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.7/10 - Popularity: 73% | Activity: 61% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Sharp-angled Architecture:** There is an opportunity for architects and designers to explore and innovate with steeply angled roofs and interiors to create visually striking and unique buildings. - **Integration of Natural Light:** Exploring ways to maximize natural light through large windows and innovative design can create modern and sophisticated spaces. - **Contemporary Expression in Architecture:** Architecture firms can push the boundaries of design by blending existing structures with contemporary expressions to create new and visually stunning buildings. ### Who This Affects Most - **Architecture and Design:** The architecture and design industry can benefit from exploring and implementing sharp-angled structures, integrating natural light, and creating contemporary expressions in their projects. - **Construction and Real Estate:** The construction and real estate industries can capitalize on the demand for visually striking and unique buildings by incorporating sharp-angled architecture and maximizing natural light in their projects. - **Residential Development:** Residential developers can find disruptive innovation opportunities by incorporating sharp-angled roofs and interiors, as well as maximizing natural light to create modern and sophisticated homes. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Precisely Designed Toronto Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/baby-point.md) - [Sawtooth Roof Apartment Blocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ferrars-york.md) - [Cutout Roof Cement-Clad Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/edition-office.md) - [Angular Black Cantilevered Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tallowwood-cabin.md) - [Sculptural Inverted Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-house-with-an-inverted-roof.md) - [Cantilevered Mountain Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brutal-honesty.md) - [Temple-Inspired Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/j-kidman-architecture.md) - [Textured Brick London Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nw10.md) - [Spacially Contrasting Home Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/barwon-heads-house.md)
