# Bureau Bunk Beds The nr1977 by MihaDesign is a Lofty Bunk Bed With a Floating Desk Atop By Summer Luu | Published 2011-03-09 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nr1977-by-mihadesign References: [swiss-miss](http://www.swiss-miss.com/2011/03/nr1977-by-mihadesign.html) & [mihadesign](http://mihadesign.com/003_works/nr1977-/nr1977-12.htm) Bunk beds that incorporate desks within the furniture are usually placed on the bottom with the mattress up top, but the nr1977 by MihaDesign has a different vision--and a clever one at that. The lofty [desk-bed hybrid](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/piccalio-bedbed) by Naoto Mitsumoto and Naoko Hamana switches the two elements around, placing the table above the bed. Initially, this design was customized for a family who needed to [save space in their tiny apartment](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/expand-furniture). What's special about this furniture is that it's a bedroom in itself, with tall walls that act as a partition and a [mini staircase to the floating desk](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-leandesk). Made especially for the kids, the piece allows users to sit on the bench up top and dangle their legs above the bed. The nr1977 by MihaDesign is almost like a fun fort for kids, which I'm sure they love. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.7/10 - Popularity: 66% | Activity: 68% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Desk-bed Hybrids:** Opportunity for companies to design and produce innovative furniture that combines desks and beds in unique ways. - **Space-saving Furniture:** Potential for businesses to create compact and multi-functional furniture pieces that maximize space in small living areas. - **Customized Furniture Solutions:** Room for companies to offer personalized and tailored furniture designs to meet the specific needs of customers. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Chance for furniture manufacturers to tap into the market demand for innovative and space-saving furniture solutions. - **Interior Design:** Opportunity for interior design firms to incorporate and showcase unique desk-bed hybrids as part of their design projects. - **Custom Furniture Design:** Space for custom furniture designers to create personalized and functional furniture pieces that cater to individual requirements. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Ultra-Modern Bunk Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flexy-junior-bed.md) - [Sliding Desk-Equipped Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boomerang-bed.md) - [Reversible Mid-High Bed Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/big-eyes-bed.md) - [Minimally Refined Wall Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wall-desk-1.md) - [Overhead Storage Single Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/otto-cobbo-bed.md) - [Minimalist Storage-Paired Workstations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diag-desk.md) - [Fold-Out WFH Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/writing-bureau.md) - [Sleek Minimal Wall Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ab019-wall-desk.md) - [Ergonomic Multi-Use Desk Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kabinett-desk.md)
