# DIY Sci-Fi Pinatas Mostlymade’s Novelty Pinata is the Geeky Way to Celebrate Cinco de Mayo By Kyle Towers | Published 2013-04-26 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/novelty-pinata References: [thatsnerdalicious](http://www.thatsnerdalicious.com/candy/how-to-make-a-tardis-pull-string-pinata/) & [instructables](http://www.instructables.com/id/Tardis-Pull-String-Pinata/) An Instructables user by the username of Mostlymade has created a wonderfully geeky tutorial for a novelty pinata. The pinata has been made to look like TARDIS from Doctor Who to ensure that even the geeks won’t miss out on the Cinco de Mayo celebrations. What’s ingenious about this pinata is the fact that its life can be spared as it has a clever pull feature. This will allow party goers to pull the trap door on the bottom for the delicious contents within. This also means the novelty pinata can be used over and over again—even more than once in one night! As any Cinco de Mayo party veteran will tell you, the party is a long one, so the more pinata prizes the better. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.9/10 - Popularity: 29% | Activity: 19% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [DIY](https://www.trendhunter.com/diy) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Novelty Pinatas:** Novelty pinatas with clever features that can be re-used are gaining popularity as people look for sustainable and unique party options. - **Geeky Celebrations:** Geek-inspired party decorations and accessories are becoming increasingly popular, providing ample opportunity for innovative and creative inventions. - **Pull-string Pinatas:** Pull-string pinatas are a trending alternative to traditional ones, as people seek safer and more convenient party games. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Party Supplies:** The party supplies industry can leverage the growing demand for unique, eco-friendly, and thematic products by developing innovative novelty pinatas and other decorations. - **Geek Culture:** The geek culture industry can capitalize on the trend of geek-inspired parties and events by creating more unique and fun decorations, including novelty pinatas. - **Games and Toys:** The games and toys industry can explore the growing popularity of pull-string pinatas by developing new designs and features that cater to different preferences and occasions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [DIY Monster Pops](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monster-pops.md) - [DIY Tepache Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diy-tepache.md) - [Sci-Fi Space Station Puzzles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/maze-game.md) - [Festive Sci-Fi Building Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gingerbread-atat-walker.md) - [DIY Miniature Science Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diy-volcano-in-a-box.md) - [Product-Inspired Halloween Looks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aldi-and-elladoesfx.md) - [Cubic Sci-Fi Advent Calendars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-trek-borg-cube-advent-calendar.md) - [DIY Wooden Pinball Puzzles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/3d-wooden-puzzle.md) - [Galactic-Inspired Stationary Pins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/planet-pins.md)
