It plays on the common depiction of pirates possessing a wooden leg. Its leg can be removed and replaced with any sort of pencil, [pencil crayon](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aluminum-sphere) and/or maybe even eyeliner you may own. Now all you need is a pencil with a fitting eraser topper, like a parrot or a boot to match. The pirate itself is actually quite adorable. It is very cartoon-y and has a lovable and stout physique. It also of course has the iconic patch, beard and hook for a hand. This novelty pencil sharpener is just another of many different ways to customize and add personality to your desk and office. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.4/10 - Popularity: 11% | Activity: 22% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Customizable Desk Accessories:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in creating customizable desk accessories that add personality to the workspace. - **Novelty Stationery Gadgets:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in creating novelty gadgets for stationery lovers that combine functionality and playfulness. - **Playful Office Decor:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in designing playful and unique office decor items to make the workspace more enjoyable. ### Where This Applies - **Stationery:** Opportunity for the stationery industry to tap into the demand for novelty and customizable products to enhance customers' office experience. - **Design and Manufacturing:** Opportunity for designers and manufacturers to create unique and customizable office accessories that cater to individual preferences. - **E-commerce:** Opportunity for e-commerce platforms to offer a wide range of novelty and customizable stationery gadgets to online shoppers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Vertical Pencil Sharpening Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pencil-sharpener-1.md) - [Pencil Shaving-Inspired Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sharpener-lampshades.md) - [Electric Pencil Sharpener](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/electric-pencil-sharpener.md) - [Recycled Plastic Writing Utensils](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mechanical-drop-pencil.md) - [Witty Plushie Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/punchkins-are-punny-collectibles.md) - [Spinning Desk Sharpeners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ferfereh.md) - [Unique Writing Instruments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/graphite-paintbrush-writing-instrument.md) - [Off-Kilter Desktop Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/concept-pen-holder.md) - [Self-Sharpening Coloring Pencils](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/infinity-colouring-pencils.md)
