# Fascinating Lava Lamp Facades Nordwesthaus is a Contemporary Lighthouse for the Sailing Community By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-01-18 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nordwesthaus References: [blog.2modern](http://blog.2modern.com/2013/01/led-light-house-baumschlager-eberle.html) & [baumschlager-eberle](http://www.baumschlager-eberle.com/en/projects/chronological/details-of-project/project/nordwesthaus.html) The exquisitely unpredictable and protean qualities of water are beautifully celebrated in the Nordwesthaus. The [sailing clubhouse on Lake Constance](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lakeside-living) in Switzerland was designed by Baumschlager Eberle to sit conveniently adjacent to the moorings, providing a much-needed indoor space and a less practical purpose. Looking at the illuminated cubic structure at night is a real feast for the eyes. Lights inside of it make it glow gorgeous colors that reflect brilliantly on the calm surface of the water before it. There is a sensational structural dynamic between the [fluid concrete walls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pattern-house) and the perforations that take spellbinding biomorphic forms. With [translucent glass cladding](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glassbrick-apartment) every face of the Nordwesthaus, the mesmerizing building comes to resemble a boxy large-scale lava lamp. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.6/10 - Popularity: 56% | Activity: 44% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Fluid Concrete:** The use of fluid concrete in architectural design presents opportunities for innovative and mesmerizing building structures. - **Translucent Glass Cladding:** The application of translucent glass cladding can create visually stunning and dynamic architectural facades. - **Biomorphic Design:** Incorporating biomorphic forms in architecture allows for the creation of captivating and spellbinding buildings. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architecture:** Architects can explore the use of fluid concrete, translucent glass cladding, and biomorphic design to create disruptive and visually striking buildings. - **Construction:** The construction industry can capitalize on the growing demand for innovative architectural features like fluid concrete, translucent glass cladding, and biomorphic design. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate the mesmerizing elements of fluid concrete, translucent glass cladding, and biomorphic design to create unique and captivating spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Lakeside Lab Hub Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boathouse-zuka.md) - [Lighthouse-Functioning Concrete Structures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/concrete-pavilion.md) - [Water-Centric Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/10m.md) - [Nature-Rooted Family Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/haus-am-lagnesberg.md) - [Sustainable Cubic Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/appels-architekten.md) - [Light Reflective Modern Villas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ppaa.md) - [Serene Waterfront Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lake-house-life-experience-pavilion.md) - [Forest Lantern Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iside-home.md) - [Contrast-Texture Community Centers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lakehouse.md)
