The researchers at the [Nokia Research Center](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nokia-infinity-pro) in Finland have built an interactive touchscren display made of ice. Using 25cm-thick river ice cut into 50cm square blocks, this icy surface was blasted with a heat gun to induce a smoother texture.

The big guns were brought in when researchers implanted infrared emitters and detectors into the cold structure, enabling [touchscreen abilities](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/microtouch-products).
