# Fake Human Taxidermy Joseph Seigenthaler Sculptures Use Real Hair By varkeychaya | Published 2008-05-03 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/noggins-with-a-tale-to-tell References: [inventorspot](http://inventorspot.com/articles/noggins_13197) These faux human head mounts, created by Joseph Seigenthaler, have an air of morbidity, but at the same time are captivating in terms of their incredible detail. The heads, some of them appearing to mocking the viewer while others just having an eerie smile, are all unique, and every one definitely freaked me out. The head mounts were created using a variety of materials like real hair, oil, resin, acrylic, wax and fabric which were all fired on stoneware or earthware. The Carl Hammer Gallery on Joseph Seigenthaler's site states, "The simultaneously repulsive/beguiling mixed media figures of Joseph Seigenthaler didn't just crawl out of some dark, murky, mysterious slime. They arrived by car, the CTA, they walked in city streets, they ate lunch in a neighborhood diner, their legs mended in local hospitals, they were entertained in the local movie theater. They were the man or woman who live just down the block." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.6/10 - Popularity: 86% | Activity: 73% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Faux Human Head Mounts:** Opportunity to disrupt the art industry with unique and captivating sculptures using mixed media materials. - **Incredible Detail:** Opportunity to disrupt the sculpture industry with intricate and lifelike faux human head mounts. - **Mixed Media Figures:** Opportunity to disrupt the art market by combining various materials to create repulsive/beguiling sculptures. ### Who This Affects Most - **Art:** Opportunity for artists to create unique and unsettling sculptures using mixed media techniques. - **Sculpture:** Opportunity for sculptors to push the boundaries of detail and realism with their creations. - **Market:** Opportunity for innovative artists to capture a niche market of art enthusiasts seeking unconventional and provocative pieces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Human Embraced-Inspired Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wallmounted-sculpture.md) - [Digital Archetype Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/christian-rex-van-minnen-1.md) - [Almost-Extinct Animal Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fauna-series.md) - [Hyper-Realistic Flesh Objects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/junji-ito.md) - [Otherworldly Wooden Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-sculptures-1.md) - [Human Torso-Inspired Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lene-bdker.md) - [Real Hair-Packed Voodoo Dolls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/steveo.md) - [Glamorous Artful Bronze Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sweet-jane.md) - [Surreal Love-Themed Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/joakim-ojanen.md)
