# Speech Bubble Storage The N=N 01 Shelves Were Inspired by Comic Book Callouts By Amelia Roblin | Published 2014-01-31 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nn-01-shelves References: [lucanichetto](http://www.lucanichetto.com/ita/Projects/Nichetto-Nendo/N-N-01-shelves-in-a-comic) Whether you realize it or not, the possessions that you display within your home do speak for you. The N=N 01 Shelves embrace this notion that your guests are gathering insight about your character from the items that they see in your spaces. The quirky storage system was inspired by the shapes of speech bubbles from comic books, with the individual ledges taking the places of words and letters. The collaboration between Luca Nichetto and [Nendo](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nendo-and-daniel-arsham) has produced a collection of irregularly rounded [wall-mounted bookcases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelving-unit-01) with clusters of translucent glass panels protruding. They come in a variety of colors and three different sizes. The N=N 01 Shelves encourage you to top these with [reading materials and knickknacks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/penguin-x-moebe-book-stand) that say something about your personality to give your house a voice. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.4/10 - Popularity: 91% | Activity: 34% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Translucent Storage:** The use of translucent glass panels in storage systems creates a visually interesting and unique way to display personal belongings. - **Quirky Home Decor:** Designs inspired by comic book callouts offer a playful and individualistic approach to home decor. - **Personalized Storage:** Storage systems that allow individuals to curate and showcase their belongings offer a way to express personal style and create a unique living environment. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can explore incorporating playful and unique designs inspired by comic book callouts into their product offerings. - **Furniture:** Furniture manufacturers can develop storage systems that use translucent glass panels to create visually interesting and customizable pieces. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can embrace the trend of personalized storage to create unique and expressive living spaces for their clients. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Dynamic Storage-Display Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelf-life.md) - [Progressive Storage Shelving Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ledoux-prt-collection.md) - [Minimalist Bookish Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimal-bookshelf.md) - [Speaker-Inspired Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lloyd-tex.md) - [Room-Dividing Bookshelf Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frquence-shelf.md) - [L-Shaped Stacked Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loft-shelf.md) - [Mounted Colorful Shelving Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ledge-shelf.md) - [Clock-Accented Shelf Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/omega-shelf.md) - [Twisting Donut-Shaped Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hullabaloo-bookshelf.md)
