# Electrically Coiled Lanterns The Nicolo Barlera Cordial Lamp is Made Using its Own Power Cord By Gil Cohen | Published 2012-12-09 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nicolo-barlera-cordial-lamp References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2012/12/05/cordial-lamp-by-nicolo-barlera/) & [coroflot](http://www.coroflot.com/nbarlera) The simplistic design of the Nicolo Barlera Cordial Lamp utilizes as few components as necessary in its composition. Without a stand, this [pendant lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/corka) truly embraces a [minimalist design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/delite-20) whereupon it can be used by placing it on a table or dangling it from the ceiling. The entire lamp is made up of three parts: the cord, the bulb and the socket, for an easy and fuss-free way to light up a room. The cord has been extended and was then wound all the way around a mold in order to create the [coiled lamp shade](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-hat-collection). By doubling it back and keeping it connected to the bulb, the shade is actually giving power to the Cordial Lamp. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.2/10 - Popularity: 56% | Activity: 32% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Simplistic Lighting:** Minimalist, fuss-free lighting solutions for homes and workplaces. - **Electrical Cord Design:** Innovative use of cords as both a design element and power source for lighting. - **Coiled Lamp Shades:** Coiling and wrapping cords to create unique and functional lamp shades. ### Who This Affects Most - **Home Goods:** Creating sleek and minimalist lighting solutions for modern homes. - **Interior Design:** Incorporating innovative cord designs as a focal point in home or office lighting. - **Sustainable Design:** Utilizing unique and eco-friendly materials in lighting, such as coiled cords for lamp shades. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Modernized Lantern Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ambientec-madco.md) - [Glowing Power-Free Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nisshoku.md) - [Cutesy Coiled Floor Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-helix-lamp.md) - [Wireless Lamp Renditions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tom-dixon-portable.md) - [Flatpack Minimalist Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-loop-lamp.md) - [Wireless Lighting Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cordless-collection.md) - [Versatile Torch-Style Lighting Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cono.md) - [Powered Pendant Illuminations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/avro-pendant.md) - [Japanese Lantern-Inspired Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/madco.md)
