The Nicholas K Fall 2014 collection was one of the first shows to kick off Mercedez-Benz Fashion Week in New York City, showing off a chic collection of garments for men and women. Considering that it’s anticipated that the forecast for this year’s NYFW will bring snow, rain and more snow, attendees of the Nicholas K show were probably a little jealous of the cozy ensembles on the models.

The collection takes inspiration from book and movie titles like ‘Men at Sea’ and ‘Deadliest Catch.’ It’s always a little chillier by the water and it’s no secret that [fishermen know how to stay warm](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jw-anderson-x-uniqlo). Some of the [nautical influences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nanamica-springsummer-2026) can be seen in the knits, rope detailing and the practical Honeywell boots. Although there are a few midriff-baring styles in the Fall 2014 collection, there are plenty of [knits, jackets and wraps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kerisma-knits) to cover them up with. While the trousers for both men and women are more form-fitting, tops are draped in a much more loose, relaxed manner.
