# Wrinkled Wood Furniture New Works by Jory Brigham Have an Organic Presence By Meghan Young | Published 2011-07-29 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-works-by-jory-brigham References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2011/07/28/new-furniture-designs-from-jory-brigham/) & [jorybrigham](http://jorybrigham.com/) These new works by Jory Brigham have an organic presence that is nevertheless entirely neo-retro. Like his [past designs](http://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jory-brigham), he uses some of the same details and accents such as accordionlike folds and colorblocked colorways. Yet, he has introduced some other elements that give each piece a natural feel. For instance, the Hollister and Chumash butler cabinet boasts a wrinkled wooden panel that makes it look as though it were rippling in the wind. Not to mention the Comfortable Silence benches that have planters built right in. By being aware of their impact on the planet, these new works by Jory Brigham don't just look inspired by nature -- they were also made with nature in mind. By using materials like sustainable plywood, plantation Teak and [FSC](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/renovo-gift-card) certified walnut, this furniture is very eco-friendly. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.8/10 - Popularity: 87% | Activity: 78% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Wrinkled Wood Furniture:** Unique furniture designs incorporating wrinkled wood panels or textures to create a natural and organic feel to furniture pieces. - **Eco-friendly Furniture:** A trend towards more sustainable and environmentally conscious furniture materials to reduce carbon footprint and increase eco-friendliness. - **Furniture with Built-in Planters:** Incorporating plants into furniture designs to create a seamless integration of stylish furniture and eco-friendliness. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Manufacturing:** The furniture industry could see opportunities in incorporating more eco-friendly materials that are sustainable and environmentally conscious to appeal to a wider customer base. - **Interior Design:** Interior design professionals could incorporate more natural and organic furniture pieces into their designs, especially those with built-in planters, to create a more calming and sustainable environment for their clients. - **Sustainable Materials:** The use of sustainable materials in furniture manufacturing can expand beyond the furniture industry to other industries looking to reduce their impact on the environment. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Organic Ancient Design Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/earth-to-people-furniture-collection.md) - [Wooden Textural Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/corrugated-furniture.md) - [Striking Wood Furniture Silhouettes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/irish-furniture-design.md) - [Wrinkled Plastic Film-Wrapped Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paul-coenen-1.md) - [Organic Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roots-collection-1.md) - [Naturalistic Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/back-to-nature-collection.md) - [Artful Wooden Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knowledge-of-all-dark-things.md) - [Imperfect Timber Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/no1-common.md) - [Mid-Century Modern Furnishings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/last-ditch.md)
