# Dissonantly Surreal Paintings The New Work by Paco Pomet is Full of Sinister Scenes By Meghan Young | Published 2014-02-05 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-work-by-paco-pomet References: [fubiz.net](http://www.fubiz.net/en/2014/02/04/surreal-paintings-by-paco-pomet/) & [pacopomet.es](http://pacopomet.es/) The new work by Paco Pomet, an artist born and based in Granada, Spain, will boggle the mind in a way that only art can. A series of black and white paintings that have been sliced with surreal bits of color, these creations are as impressive as his previous ones from [last year](http://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vintage-photos) and a [couple of years](http://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paco-pomet1) before that. From fiery explosions in the middle of a winding river to [bubblegum-like skies](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hubbabubbabuilding) and dissected cars with red midsections, the new work by Paco Pomet embraces a world full of mystery and magic. In a way, the paintings might bring to mind the 1998 movie 'Pleasantville,' yet the introduction of color has a more sinister vibe than a promising one. Instead of liberation, there appears to be oppression. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.6/10 - Popularity: 28% | Activity: 11% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Surreal Art Shifts:** Exploring shifts in Surreal art towards sinister and foreboding scenes. - **Color Slicing:** Incorporating slices of bright colors within otherwise monochromatic paintings. - **Mystery and Magic Worlds:** Creating worlds filled with mystery and magic in art, through implicit motifs and symbolism. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Fine Art Industry:** Paving way for Fine Art industry to adopt newer forms of surrealistic art. - **Interior Design Industry:** Providing inspiration for Interior Design industry for creating unique, dark-themed design elements. - **Artificial Intelligence Industry:** Generating content for Artificial Intelligence industry to train deep-learning models on Surreal art with deeper layers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Otherwordly Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/william-monk.md) - [Statement Street Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surreal-street-art-1.md) - [AI-Generated Poetic Photo Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emilio-alarcn.md) - [Vibrantly Colorful Dynamic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kayla-rumpp.md) - [Dark Abstracted Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-minyades-exhibition.md) - [Glass Beaded Intricate Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/painting-exhibition.md) - [Color-Blending Kinetic Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/felipe-pantone.md) - [Neo-Mexican Art Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/para-morelio.md) - [AI-Generated Real-World Transformations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-generated-world.md)
