Basically, he wanted to improve public seating options which tend to be cramped, uncomfortable and as a consequence, uninviting. Not to mention, traditional public seating does not allow for different ways of interacting as they are usually configured so people sit next to each other. The D&A Seating features [modular units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mimo-modular) that can be arranged in many ways, including formal or informal configurations that allow people to have a friendlier experience when meeting in public. The modules come in either upholstered or polyethylene finish, and when together, they create a sort of landscape which is more of a [natural environment](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/apego) than the traditional public seating configurations. By the way, this design won the Assaf Israel a Saphire prize (Bezadel Academy) and “Project of the Year” (Israel Architecture magazine.) ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.0/10 - Popularity: 9% | Activity: 74% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Modular Public Seating:** Modular seating solutions that allow for different configurations and interactions in public spaces. - **Enhanced Comfort:** Designing public seating options that prioritize comfort and invite users to stay longer. - **Flexible Design:** Creating seating options that can be easily rearranged to accommodate various needs and preferences. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Opportunity for furniture manufacturers to develop and produce modular seating solutions for public spaces. - **Urban Design and Planning:** Incorporating innovative seating designs into public spaces to enhance the comfort and experience of users. - **Hospitality and Events:** Using modular seating options in hospitality and event spaces to create more dynamic and interactive environments. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sculptural Public Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-public-seating.md) - [Playful Public Seating Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playful-public-seating.md) - [Public Airport Seating Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gateway-collection.md) - [Modular Industrial Furniture Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a45-system.md) - [Modular Seating Design Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pla-modular-chair.md) - [Nature-Inspired Structured Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twig-seating.md) - [Modular Bulbous Lounge Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sundae-modular-lounge.md) - [Modular Seating Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flow-seating.md) - [Modular Seating Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/candy-modular-seating.md)
