This conceptual design for a New Orleans house was one of three winning entries created for the [American Institute of Architects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/joby-air-taxi)’ Designing Recovery Competition. The design of the ‘Shotgun [Remix]’ house was developed by GOATstudio and builds on the aims of the Make it Right Foundation to combine the look of a traditional single-family home with modern materials, clever space planning with environmentally-friendly features.

In response to increasing rainfall, rising sea levels and the risk of flooding during a hurricane, the Shotgun [Remix] home is elevated 7’ above the ground. In the case of water buildup, water runoff can be filtered through its [rain garden](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/living-on-groundwater).

As well as its several features for keeping families safe and dry, GOATstudio’s design has several eco-friendly features as well — it could attain a revered LEED Platinum status and provide homeowners with solar energy.
