# Seriously Simple Lamps The New Lights by Andrew Neyer Adhere to Modern Minimalism By Meghan Young | Published 2014-03-05 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-lights-by-andrew-neyer References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/new-lamps-andrew-neyer/) & [andrewneyer](http://andrewneyer.com/work/design/) The new lights by Andrew Neyer, art director and head curator at YES, a collaborative artist-run studio, gallery, and shop in Cincinnati, Ohio, are stunning examples of modern minimalism. The simple construction and [sleek lines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mute-lamp) of each design both stand out and blend in the background without any regard for the limelight. Instead, they perform a function in a aesthetically-pleasing manner. The four new lights by Andrew Neyer involve [Stone Light](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ghost-capsule), which has a [cone-shaped concrete base](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nau-design), Goodnight Light that could easily be mistaken for a contemporary bulb on its own, Mobile Light, which looks like the Goodnight Light but suspended from the ceiling on a rotating fixture, and Crane Light, which essentially speaks for itself. Simple in different ways, these designs would enhance any living space without taking over existing decor. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.3/10 - Popularity: 47% | Activity: 14% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Modern Minimalism:** Opportunities for disruptive innovation in creating sleek and minimalist designs in various industries, from lighting to furniture. - **Aesthetically-pleasing Functionality:** Opportunities to develop products that serve a practical purpose while also offering visually appealing design elements. - **Blending-in Design:** Opportunities to create products that seamlessly blend into the background while still maintaining their functionality. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Lighting:** Opportunities for disruptive innovation in the lighting industry by developing minimalist and aesthetically pleasing light fixtures. - **Furniture:** Opportunities to design furniture pieces that incorporate modern minimalism and blend seamlessly with various interior design styles. - **Interior Design:** Opportunities to incorporate modern minimalist design principles into interior design projects, creating visually appealing spaces that promote functionality. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Simplistic Angular Desktop Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linear-table-lamp.md) - [Weighted Multi-Position Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-desk-lamp-design.md) - [Stunningly Minimalist Lighting Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-lighting-design.md) - [Ultra-Chic Sculptural Lighting Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-lighting-design.md) - [Flatpack Minimalist Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-loop-lamp.md) - [Minimalist Mysterious Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/auge-light-mini.md) - [Industrial Contemporary Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shop-light.md) - [Lantern-Like Light Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-kyeol-series.md) - [Playful Minimal Suspended Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nomnom-light.md)
