Post-dynastic modern China was founded on the idea of collectivism, according to O-office Architects, and the firm's latest project, titled 'New Collectivism,' hopes to reaffirm that idealistic vision. The [dormitory-styled condo complex](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/affordable-housing-prototype) houses over 150 staff working at the nearby Song Shan Hu Building Industrialization Research Center, and it is explicitly designed to foster a sense of community.

The [living accommodations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/highdensity-residential-design) that run through the center of the building are raised up by two columns on opposite sides, leaving space underneath for an [outdoor meeting place](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/street-clubhouse). Further, the east side of the building, which is called 'The Mount,' has a large climbing wall that culminates with a balcony and patio that offers direct entrance to the interior.
