# Spidery Artistic Lighting The New Approach Light by Jorge Penades Plays with Perceptions By Meghan Young | Published 2012-11-27 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-approach-light References: [plusmood](http://plusmood.com/2012/11/new-approach-project-jorge-penades-serrano/) The New Approach Light looks like an abstract take on a daddy long-legs spider. The spindly geometric lines that branch away from the light source is almost exactly how the arachnid's legs would fold around if it were to take the same stance. Artistically experimental in a minimalistic manner, the New Approach Light explores the spacial perception of humans. Designed by Jorge Penadés Serrano, the New Approach Light is part of the larger, on-going New Approach project. The designer states, "I understand space as a shifting entity. Lines merge to create planes, planes join and become volume, volume changes depending on the angle." In this case, the New Approach Light plays with such elements in order to connect with the viewer. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.1/10 - Popularity: 62% | Activity: 23% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Geometric Lighting:** Incorporating geometric shapes and lines in lighting designs can create unique and visually striking pieces. - **Experimental Minimalism:** Exploring simplicity in design can result in innovative products that challenge traditional norms. - **Spatial Perception Art:** Creating art that plays with space and perception can offer new and exciting experiences for viewers. ### Who This Affects Most - **Lighting Design:** Designers and manufacturers can incorporate geometric shapes and minimalism into their lighting products to offer something new and visually intriguing. - **Artistic Installations:** Artists can experiment with spatial perception in their installations to create immersive and interactive experiences for viewers. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can showcase unique and innovative lighting and art pieces that challenge traditional design and offer something new. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Suspended Halo Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lamplox-minimalist-floor-lamp.md) - [Tree Branch-Formed Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/celestial-attraction.md) - [Illusory Multidimensional Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drop-light.md) - [Minimalist Mysterious Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/auge-light-mini.md) - [Interactive Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tangent-lamp.md) - [Glowing Tubular Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/array-lighting.md) - [Sleek Structural Lighting Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emotional-lab-light.md) - [Chic Saucer-Shaped Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-in-tight-light-fixture.md) - [Suspended Origami-Like Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sora-light.md)
