# Hanging Human Hideaways Droog Design's Nest House Invites Us into a Bird's Home By Marissa Liu | Published 2009-09-18 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nest-house References: [treehugger](http://www.treehugger.com/files/2008/10/nest-house.php) & [droog](http://www.droog.com/products/furniture---objects/nest-house/) Taking the concept of a treehouse to a completely different level designer Gerard Moliné created the [Nest House](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/buitenverblijf-nest). Produced by Droog Design this [hanging chair-turned-playspace](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/birddy) is made from stainless steel tube and [nylon rope](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/entwined-objects). You can buy synthetic leaves although Droog; the Nest House’s producer encourages setting it up in an actual tree and using real leaves and branches to create your own, unique nest house. It actually looks a little bit like one of those concealed animal traps. The Nest House was inspired by birds that use the nearest natural resources to design and build their homes. The nest house serves as an observation point, a fun habitat in which you can spend a night or just a really cool place to have a tea party or to launch spit balls. It allows us to perceive and inhabit the natural space of an animal. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.0/10 - Popularity: 10% | Activity: 43% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Hanging Human Hideaways:** Designing innovative hanging structures that provide unique experiences and integrate with natural surroundings. - **Treehouse Transformation:** Taking traditional treehouses to new heights with modern materials and customizable features. - **Nature-inspired Living Spaces:** Creating living spaces that mimic the design and functionality of animal nests for a closer connection with nature. ### Where This Applies - **Outdoor Recreation:** Providing outdoor enthusiasts with innovative and immersive experiences in natural environments. - **Home Design:** Offering homeowners unique and customizable living spaces that blend nature and modern aesthetics. - **Eco-tourism:** Catering to eco-conscious travelers seeking sustainable and nature-focused accommodations and experiences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Elevated Treetop Modern Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/buitenverblijf-nest.md) - [Interactive Observation Wooden Birdhouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/domik-ptashki.md) - [Futuristic Curved Islandic Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-nest-2.md) - [Sustainable Off-Grid Remote Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/daria-sheina.md) - [Living Plant DIY Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/green-hideaway.md) - [Home Exterior Nesting Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/numbird.md) - [Rentable Miniature Modern Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-nest-1.md) - [Vaulted Structural Telescopic Treehouse](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artistree-home.md) - [Modern Rounded Treehouse Pods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/burl-treehouse.md)
