# Spherical Wire Seating The Nest Chair By Kirv Features an Unconventional Aesthetic By Jana Pijak | Published 2012-04-28 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nest-chair-by-kirv References: [archiscene.net](http://www.archiscene.net/design/nest-kirv/) The 'Nest Chair' By Kirv is the latest mind-blowing project from the British design studio. A cross between retro futurism and farmhouse chic, this chair dons a [metallic materiality woven](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woven-chair-designs) to resemble chicken wire. The [modular seater](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-table-and-chair) features a [domed frame](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-introvert-chair) that is transparent and lightweight. Its form is then accented with a pink-hued fabric seat, erratically attached to metal supports, making the off-kilter furniture piece an acquired taste for many. Shocking and at times garish, the 'Nest Chair' by Kirv is a definite conversation starter. Whether loved or hated, Kirv's creation is undeniably one-of-a-kind, exuding authenticity channeled through its complex and distinctive concept. The opposite of traditional, this expressive furniture piece is sure to make any space that much more memorable. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.3/10 - Popularity: 34% | Activity: 28% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Unconventional Seating:** The Nest Chair showcases a unique aesthetic, encouraging innovative seating designs that deviate from the norm. - **Modular Furniture:** With its lightweight, transparent frame, the Nest Chair highlights the market opportunity for modular furniture that can easily adapt to small spaces. - **Metallic Materiality:** Kirv's use of metallic wire in the Nest Chair presents an innovative opportunity for industrial designers to explore unconventional materials in furniture design. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Design:** The Nest Chair's unconventional aesthetic pushes the boundaries of traditional furniture design, providing an opening for designers to explore new forms and materials. - **Home Decor:** Incorporating unique and avant-garde designs like the Nest Chair can help brands stand out in the crowded home decor market. - **Interior Design:** Innovative seating designs like the Nest Chair offer interior designers a way to create memorable and unique spaces for clients. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Chaotically Natural Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kkochgalam-chair.md) - [Stylish Stackable Office Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nesting-chair.md) - [Modular Knit Seating Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knit-one.md) - [Traditional Vibrant Outdoor Armchairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/net-lounge.md) - [Cocoon-Like Knitted Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cocoon-chair-1.md) - [Woven Midcentury Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kida-armchair.md) - [Flatpack Ultra-Modular Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nebula-chair.md) - [Tubular Organic-Formed Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loopy-chair.md) - [Chunky Knitted Quilted Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knitty-chair.md)
