[Kyle Downes](http://ultra-awesome.blogspot.com/2008/05/nes-coffee-table-final-post-rah.html)wanted a convenient place to store his growing collection of video games, but instead of settling for a normal storage box, he came up with this totally awesome Coffee table/ Storage Box/ NES Controller that actually works!! He made the 3-in-1 piece from 4mm MDF with the top being a huge replica or the NES Controller that he wired with the appropriate circuitry so that he can play with the huge buttons off the table directly. A large piece of glass protects the buttons when not in use and coverts it into a functional geek-friendly coffee table that has ample space to store the games and accessories inside it. Great job Kyle. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.8/10 - Popularity: 62% | Activity: 44% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Retro Gaming Furniture:** Creating furniture that combines nostalgia-inducing gaming elements with functional design, opening up opportunities for unique and innovative home decor. - **Multi-purpose Furniture:** Designing furniture pieces that serve multiple functions, such as combining a coffee table, storage box, and gaming controller, allowing for efficient use of space in small living areas. - **Interactive Furniture:** Incorporating interactive elements into furniture design, like a working NES Controller, to enhance user experience and bring a playful touch to home decor. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Manufacturing:** The furniture manufacturing industry can explore new product lines that combine gaming elements with functional design, catering to the growing market of nostalgic gamers. - **Gaming Accessories:** The gaming accessories industry can develop innovative products that integrate gaming controllers into furniture, providing gamers with unique and interactive gaming experiences. - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can offer retro-inspired furniture pieces that appeal to gamers and enthusiasts, combining functionality with nostalgic design elements. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Organized Gaming Storage Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bauhutte.md) - [Video Game-Inspired Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pac-man-side-table.md) - [Gaming Console Coffee Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nintendo-fp-coffee-machine.md) - [Shapeshifting Gamer Consoles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nintendo-game-boy-famicon.md) - [Board Game Furniture Innovations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bandpass-design.md) - [Building Block Gaming Consoles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-ps-one.md) - [Supportive Gamer Cushions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/large-cushion-table-bht700c.md) - [Spinning Storage Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diy-spinning-coffee-table.md) - [Arcade-Style Console Docks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mini-arcade-pro.md)
