# Perspective-Shifting Landscape Art Painter Neil Simone Concentrates on Surreal Scenarios By Meghan Young | Published 2014-05-07 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neil-simone References: [mymodernmet](http://www.mymodernmet.com/xn/detail/2100445:BlogPost:1245794) & [neilsimone](http://neilsimone.com/) Neil Simone is an artist based in Yorkshire, England, who plays with perspective in order to create surreal paintings that play tricks on the mind. More often than not his work revolves around [natural landscapes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folding-landscape). For instance, Neil Simone allows the outdoors blend into indoor rooms in some cases while others involve a canvas impossibly interacting with the real world (or the real world according the artist, that is). Dream-like and imaginative, Neil Simone's paintings encourage people to view the world outside of its physics-based box. He writes, "I paint the way that I do because I see the world as a dimension of shadows, shapes, contradictions and ever changing fragile boundaries." His work is displayed across the UK, Europe and USA. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.7/10 - Popularity: 11% | Activity: 3% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Surreal Art:** Opportunity for artists to challenge traditional perspectives and perceptions through mind-bending and imaginative paintings. - **Perspective Manipulation:** Potential for designers and architects to explore unconventional ways of blending outdoor and indoor spaces, creating unique and immersive environments. - **Alternative Realities:** Openings for VR/AR developers to create virtual worlds that defy the laws of physics and offer users a new and extraordinary experience. ### Where This Applies - **Art and Design:** Artists, painters, and designers can push boundaries and challenge perceptions, adding a fresh and thought-provoking dimension to their works. - **Architecture and Interior Design:** Architects and interior designers can experiment with blending indoor and outdoor spaces in unconventional and mind-bending ways, creating visually stunning and immersive environments. - **Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality:** Opportunities for VR/AR developers to create alternative reality experiences that break the limits of the physical world, offering users a unique and surreal virtual experience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Painting-Immersive Photo Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-ground-exhibition.md) - [Otherwordly Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/william-monk.md) - [UK-Based Modern Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/relics-in-the-landscape.md) - [Immersive Light Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/psychoacoustic-light-ensemble.md) - [Interactive Colorful Art Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/david-hockney-bigger-closer.md) - [Wonderous Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/your-psychoacoustic-light-ensemble.md) - [Abstract Geometric Solo Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/impermanent-state-of-being.md) - [Boundless Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frameless-experience.md) - [AI-Generated Real-World Transformations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-generated-world.md)
