From a cardboard skeleton and a little patience, the Terra Outdoor chair simply grew. Okay, maybe it wasn't that magical, but the inspiration for this chair came from a need for something innovative. Seeds were used to ensure the grass grew around a cardboard skeleton of a chair that was filled with earth. This nature-made chair is every bit of green as it is creative. Why was this idea brought into fruition? Forward thinking and a sense of connection to the furniture design process are what most likely prompted the designers behind the Terra Outdoor Chair. This [innovative furniture-building method](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/atypical-chair) may just come about in other furniture projects to come. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.9/10 - Popularity: 40% | Activity: 40% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) > [Bizarre](https://www.trendhunter.com/bizarre) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Seed-grown Furniture:** The innovative idea of using seeds to make furniture pieces that integrate nature's elements and design could disrupt the furniture industry. - **Eco-friendly Furniture Design:** Furniture made from sustainable materials can provide a competitive edge to companies who adopt sustainable practices, disrupting the furniture industry towards more eco-friendly practices. - **Bio-built Materials:** As more companies explore bio-built materials, using living organisms to structure buildings and furniture, new ways of designing and producing consumer goods could emerge and disrupt multiple industries. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Furniture manufacturers could leverage sustainable materials and integrate innovative methods, such as using seeds, to stay relevant in a market where the demand for eco-friendly products is growing. - **Eco-friendly Design:** The demand for more sustainable designs is increasing, and companies that integrate green solutions in all aspects of their business operations have the potential to disrupt multiple industries. - **Construction:** The use of bio-built materials, as explored in the Seed-Grown Seating article, could disrupt the construction industry by fundamentally changing the way buildings and other structures are assembled and designed. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Living Plant DIY Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/green-hideaway.md) - [Plant-Based Dynamic Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chiachair.md) - [Sustainably Minded Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/conscious-chair.md) - [Terrarium Stool Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wild-stool.md) - [Naturalistic Stainable Seat Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/daisee-chair.md) - [Future-Facing Tech Brand Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seed-chair.md) - [Naturalistic Public Outdoor Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/life-ark-outdoor-seat.md) - [Naturalistic Grass-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-flip-chair.md) - [Plant-Based Functional Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/good-morning-glory.md)
