# Public Napping Chairs This Modern Seat is Meant to be Placed in Cities for a Temporary Relief By Ady Floyd | Published 2015-08-16 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/napping References: [irenechercoles.wix](http://irenechercoles.wix.com/portfolio) & [guillemcalatrava](http://www.guillemcalatrava.com/) Spanish designers Irene Chércoles Mercader and Andrea Mauri Carbonell created this ultra comfy napping chair that aims to provide [a cozy seat for the public](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knoll-perron-bun). While benches and other stiff seating areas exist in public spaces, this chair aims to provide a more relaxing option. The napping chair is also a [rocking chair](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/espattio-platero-rocking-table) and it is cleverly titled 'Nap.' It is made of anodized aluminum, multiple pieces of nylon tape and rubber protectors. The nylon is wrapped around the aluminum frame to create a bouncy seat that rocks back and forth. The nylon is colored a bright red to attract the public and encourage them to take a seat. The ultimate goal for this project is to place this chair in various locations around Spain. By providing people with [a unique and comfortable seat](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/calma-lounge), they are likely to enjoy a small moment of relaxation before continuing their day. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.9/10 - Popularity: 88% | Activity: 81% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Public Napping Chairs:** Public napping chairs are a trending solution to offer temporary relief to people in public spaces. - **Relaxation-focused Seating:** Seating options that prioritize relaxation and comfort are gaining popularity. - **Colorful Seating:** Brightly colored seating options are being used to attract public attention and engagement. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture:** The furniture industry has an opportunity to create innovative, relaxing, and colorful seating options for public spaces. - **Architecture:** Architects can incorporate unique and comfortable seating options into their designs to prioritize public relaxation. - **Urban Planning:** Urban planners have the opportunity to incorporate public napping chairs and similar designs into public spaces to promote relaxation and destressing. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Modernized Rocking Chair Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nodding-chair.md) - [Relaxed Outdoor Breastfeeding Seats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bamo-chair.md) - [Standing Tranquil Napping Pods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/giraffenap.md) - [Wooden Lounge Rocking Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nice-chair.md) - [Tranquil Reading Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chapters-furniture.md) - [Comforting Adaptable Sofa Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/baby-bird-reincarnation-3way-sofa-bed.md) - [Natural Sound-Amplifying Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/amplification-of-the-senses-chair.md) - [Cross-Legged Wide Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lap-chair.md) - [Fabric-Wrapped Rocking Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zhe-rocking-chair.md)
