Working with [watercolors and ink](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/painting-exhibition), Moss creates a tapestry of [fantastical characters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anima) and strangely effecting narratives. The form Moss's subjects assume seem to hearken back to a previous stage in human evolution. Appearing to be far more in touch with their primate roots then more modern incarnations of the genus Homo Sapien, her blurred figures exhibit intense emotion through the gestures their limbs assume. Their faces are obscured and distant, but the spacial orientation of this odd cast of characters suggests an emotional narrative that the viewer is left to speculate. Nadia Moss creates deeply affecting work while utilizing out of the ordinary aesthetics and [cryptic emotional scenes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multimedia-art-installation). Her work is sure to leave a lasting impact on anyone who has the opportunity to steal a glance. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.4/10 - Popularity: 43% | Activity: 22% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Watercolor and Ink Illustrations:** Opportunity to explore and innovate on the use of watercolor and ink techniques in illustration to produce emotionally evocative and captivating artwork. - **Fantastical Characters and Nostalgia:** Opportunity to create characters that evoke nostalgia while still appearing as fantastical portrayals of humans. - **Cryptic Emotional Scenes:** Opportunity to experiment with storytelling in art by creating cryptic emotional scenes that leave the viewer to speculate and imagine their own narratives. ### Where This Applies - **Art:** Artists can utilize these techniques and forms to create new styles and evoke emotions in their artwork. - **Publishing:** Publishers can commission artists to create book covers and illustrations using these techniques and forms to create captivating and emotionally evocative imagery. - **Fashion:** Fashion designers and retailers can use these illustrations as inspiration for unique and striking designs that incorporate artistic and emotional elements. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Human Embraced-Inspired Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wallmounted-sculpture.md) - [Otherworldly Wooden Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-sculptures-1.md) - [Human Nature-Themed Art Galleries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sea-im-awake.md) - [Vibrantly Colorful Dynamic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kayla-rumpp.md) - [Hand-Painted Watercolor Prints](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emma-webster.md) - [Apocalypse Post Pandemic Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contemporary-urban-art.md) - [Mesmerizing Sculpture Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mesmerizing-sculpture.md) - [Biology-Inspired Porcelain Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shiyuan-xu.md) - [Stunning Origami Portraits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/origami-portaits.md)
