# Layered Brick Abodes MYP House by Estudio BaBO Explores the Possibilities of its Materials By Amelia Roblin | Published 2011-06-09 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/myp-house-by-estudio-babo References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2011/06/08/myp-house-by-estudio-babo/) & [estudiobabo.ar](http://www.estudiobabo.com.ar/index.php?/obras/myp--casa--house/) The [brick house](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/runda-1) has been built and rebuilt for god knows how long, but the MYP House by [Estudio BaBO](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-quinto-sol) was an attempt to use the practical building block in a way that truly honors its properties. There are many shapes and sizes of bricks, but those chosen for this particular dwelling within a [country club in Buenos Aires](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/south-yarra-house) were actually sourced locally. They take the standard contemporary Western form of squat rectangular prisms, and it is this very structure that is magnified to the scale of the residence itself. To consider the massing of this Argentinian project is to understand it as a stack of bricks. The upper and lower floors, for instance, make up separate block-like constituents that allow the MYP House by Estudio BaBO to celebrate its parts to a whole. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.3/10 - Popularity: 86% | Activity: 35% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Layered Brick Architecture:** Exploring innovative ways to use bricks as a building material in modern architecture. - **Local Sourcing of Building Materials:** Finding and utilizing locally sourced materials for construction projects. - **Massing as a Design Strategy:** Using the concept of massing to create unique architectural designs. ### Where This Applies - **Construction:** Opportunity to explore new techniques and materials in building construction. - **Architecture:** Innovation in design using unconventional materials and concepts. - **Sustainability:** Using locally sourced materials to create environmentally friendly structures. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Personality-Reflecting Brick Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-cantellano.md) - [Minimal White Brick Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brick-house.md) - [Red-Brick Raised Timber Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-on-a-brick-base.md) - [Compact Calming Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-sheltered-space.md) - [Tonal Brick-Designed Housing Blocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/real-de-los-reyes.md) - [Textured Brick London Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nw10.md) - [Curved Brick Entertaining Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sobremesa-house.md) - [Abandoned Bar-Transformed Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xstudio.md) - [Multigenerational Brick Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/terracotta-breath-house.md)
