In fact, it wouldn't be surprising if a person mistook it for a bench or an ottoman instead of a table. Made out of leather and forming a rather [irregular shape](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blur-coffee-table), the MYK Coffee Table is a unique piece of furniture that will have people nodding their head in approval after scratching it for a while. Designed by Finne Architects, a design firm based in Seattle, Washington, the MYK Coffee Table looks like it represents some sort of land mass. Inspired by terrain morphology, the [soft surface rises up](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cloud-tables1) from a discreet metal base, making it appear as though it were floating. The name of the MYK Coffee Table is derived from the word meaning 'soft' in Norwegian. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.4/10 - Popularity: 43% | Activity: 80% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Landscape-inspired Furniture:** Designing furniture pieces that mimic natural landscapes provides a unique and organic appeal. - **Irregular-shaped Tables:** Creating tables with irregular shapes challenges traditional design concepts and adds an element of surprise. - **Soft Surface Materials:** Using soft materials like leather in furniture design offers a luxurious and comfortable experience. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Furniture manufacturers can explore landscape-inspired designs to stand out in the market and attract environmentally conscious consumers. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate irregular-shaped tables for clients who want a distinct and artistic statement piece in their living spaces. - **Textile and Leather Goods:** Textile and leather goods industries can explore innovative ways to use soft materials in furniture design to create unique and visually appealing products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Wavy Sculptural Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-coffee-tables.md) - [Raw Stone-Inspired Jagged Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fels-coffee-table.md) - [Curvaceous Animalistic Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookpet-coffee-table.md) - [Topographic Wooden Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/topographic-coffee-table.md) - [Sculpture-Like Geometric Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/skim-coffee-table.md) - [Dynamic Coffee Table Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ryb-coffee-table.md) - [Möbius Strip-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mbelius-coffee-table.md) - [Paper-Like Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cocoon-coffee-table.md) - [Topographical Recycled Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/two-coffee-tables.md)
