# Anime Building Block Buses LEGOROBO Makes a Functioning Catbus from 'My Neighbor Totoro' By Andrew Sztein | Published 2013-02-11 | Pop Culture Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/my-neighbor-totoro References: [laughingsquid](http://laughingsquid.com/a-lego-catbus-that-works-inspired-by-the-film-my-neighbor-totoro/) & [flickr](http://www.flickr.com/photos/legorobo/sets/72157632520008694/) The mind-bending lunacy of the classic [Japanese children's film](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/studio-ghibli-tea) 'My Neighbor Totoro' comes to life with this functioning [LEGO](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-ideas-maneki-neko) Catbus from the film. The replica from Hayao Miyazaki's film replicates the running cat appendages that the Catbus used instead of wheels in the film. In the movie, the Catbus is used by the main heroine to transport her and her fluffy best friend to lands of imagination. Since LEGO can accomplish a similar goal in a way, it's not only really cool that this [LEGO replica](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-moc) exists, but strangely ironic too. The 'My Neighbor Totoro' replica was made by Japanese LEGO builder Tomoyuki Wakata, also known as LEGOROBO on his Flickr account. His website is loaded with all sorts of kooky LEGO creations, but you might have some trouble navigating it if you don't speak Japanese. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.7/10 - Popularity: 4% | Activity: 9% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Media](https://www.trendhunter.com/media) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **LEGO Creations:** Opportunity to create innovative LEGO replicas of popular culture icons and characters. - **Functional Replicas:** Opportunity to create functional replicas of fictional vehicles and objects, bringing them to life. - **Nostalgia-inspired Designs:** Opportunity to tap into nostalgia by designing LEGO creations based on beloved movies or TV shows. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Toy Manufacturing:** Opportunity for toy manufacturers to create LEGO sets that allow children to build and play with their favorite characters and objects. - **Entertainment Merchandise:** Opportunity for entertainment merchandise companies to produce licensed LEGO replicas of popular fictional vehicles and objects. - **Creative Education:** Opportunity for educational institutions to incorporate LEGO building and design activities that inspire creativity and problem-solving skills. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Building Block Fortune Statues](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-ideas-maneki-neko.md) - [Interactive Bloclk Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dancing-hula-girl.md) - [Life-Size LEGO Brick Cars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/1950s-cadillac-fleetwood.md) - [Insanely Intricate LEGO Cars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-rollsroyce.md) - [Fandom-Honoring Building Block Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fandomhonoring-building-block-sets.md) - [Nostalgic Film-Inspired Puzzle Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boos-door.md) - [Toy Brick Reimagined Trailers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wicked-movie.md) - [Black-and-White Puzzle Brick Cats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tuxedo-cat.md) - [Show Skit-Inspired Puzzle Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mr-bean-skit.md)
