My Grandfather's Cat is a Toronto-based non-profit that [finds new homes for pets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/adopt-me) whose owners are terminally ill or seniors about to move into a care facility. The organization was launched by Angela Fafuse whose experience was close to home -- she adopted her grandfather's cat after he passed. Fafuse documented her experience on TikTok and received an outpouring of support from followers who were in similar positions. Thus, My Grandfather's Cat was born.

"We heard stories from people who had to [put their grandparents' pets into shelters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelters-united) after they passed because there wasn't a family member to adopt them," says Rafuse. The non-profit was launched on May 18th, 2021 (her grandfather's birthday), and thus far, the organization has facilitated 19 adoptions.
