# Wooden Cage Lighting Mutiny by Liam Petrie-Allbutt is Inspired by Handmade European Furniture By Meghan Young | Published 2014-02-07 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mutiny-by-liam-petrieallbutt References: [plusmood](http://plusmood.com/2014/02/mutiny-light-fittings-ambience-lighting/) Mutiny by Liam Petrie-Allbutt, an industrial designer based in Melbourne, Australia, is a light fixture that could be likened to a wooden cage. Taking into consideration its name, perhaps that is not such a far-fetched comparison. Anyone who engages in a mutiny should theoretically be thrown into a jail cell of sorts. That said, the [pendant lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightmass) was actually inspired by hand-crafted European furniture as well as the designer's former timber boat building roots and passion for the Victorian coastline. Simple and modern, Mutiny by Liam Petrie-Allbutt provides a soft glow that is reminiscent of a paper lantern. The way the light bounces off of the wood material is warm and inviting.
