# Gigantic Guitar Installations This Musical Installation is Designed to Attract Festival-Goers By Rahul Kalvapalle | Published 2017-06-28 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/musical-guitar-installation References: [medium](https://medium.com/@riebschlager/creating-a-playable-12-foot-tall-electric-guitar-f949ccc786d6) & [dimin](http://www.dimin.com/blog/12-foot-tall-guitar-boulevardia-better-believe/) As far as musical installations go, they don't come by more interactive than this absolutely enormous oversized guitar, which was one of the star attractions of the Boulevardia music festival over in Kansas City. Standing 12 feet tall and weighing in at 500 pounds, this musical installation isn't just a guitar in appearance, but is actually a fully playable, scaled-up guitar – although its incredible size makes it difficult to play anything that sounds musically pleasing. The instrument was constructed using special [CNC](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soundlink-plus) machines and laminated body and neck attachments, with the plucking of strings resulting in sound by virtue of a [Raspberry Pi](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spotify-car-thing-2) processing unit. Designed by Kansas-based Dimensional Innovations, this gigantic guitar installation is an example of interactive festival architecture at its best. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.8/10 - Popularity: 40% | Activity: 36% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Oversized Installations:** Creating gigantic installations that are interactive and attention-grabbing can enhance the festival experience. - **Playable Instruments:** Designing scaled-up playable instruments can provide unique and immersive musical experiences. - **Interactive Festival Architecture:** Incorporating interactive architectural elements can captivate festival-goers and create memorable experiences. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Music Festivals:** Music festivals can explore incorporating oversized installations to enhance the overall atmosphere and engagement of attendees. - **Event Production:** Event production companies can offer oversized playable instruments as a unique offering for festivals and other events. - **Interactive Design:** Interactive design firms can specialize in creating festival architecture that incorporates interactive elements such as giant playable instruments. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Shreddable Steampunk Guitars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/steampunk-guitar.md) - [Futuristic Abstract Musical Instruments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zeta-electric-guitar.md) - [Recycled Guitar Prototypes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cardboard-guitar-1.md) - [Musical-Themed Kinetic Structures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/daydreamer.md) - [Electronic String Instruments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/harmoni.md) - [Sound-Interactive Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arborhythm.md) - [Minimalist MIDI Guitar Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/midi-guitar.md) - [Effect-Emitting Guitar Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/guitar-gadgets.md) - [Modular High-End Guitars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shark-guitars.md)
