The synthesizer is a circuit board-style device that can be played with one’s fingers. It can also be hooked up to any object via a series of clips made from conductive material that attaches the object to the circuit board. The musician then can play a variety of notes and sounds just by tapping or pressing the object or series of objects. The Ototo [music synthesizer](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/electronic-musical-instrument) can be used on anything from fruits and vegetables to pieces of foil and even a chair. This device lets musicians get creative with how they play music and what they play with, since they are no longer limited to conventional instruments. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.3/10 - Popularity: 7% | Activity: 23% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Object-based Music:** The trend of using unconventional objects to create music using synthesizer technology is disrupting traditional musical instrument markets. - **Circuit Board Synthesizers:** The trend of creating compact and portable circuit board-style synthesizers is disrupting traditional synthesizer hardware makers. - **Conductive Material Adaptation:** The trend of using conductive materials to attach any object to a circuit board is disrupting traditional means of creating music. ### Who This Affects Most - **Music Industry:** The Ototo Music Synthesizer has disruptive potential by allowing musicians to create music without relying on conventional instruments, leading to innovation opportunities in musical instruments and music production. - **Consumer Electronics Industry:** The circuit board-style design and compact size of the Ototo Music Synthesizer presents disruptive innovation opportunities for portable synthesizer hardware. - **Technology Industry:** The use of conductive material to adapt any object to a circuit board presents disruptive innovation opportunities for a wide range of products and industries beyond music. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Stackable Modular Synths](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/3tonic.md) - [Compact Bio-Synth Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pocket-scion.md) - [Build-Your-Own Sound Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/utooto.md) - [Affordable Music-Making Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/easyplay-1s.md) - [Ultra-Modern MIDI Instruments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/midi-device.md) - [Kid-Friendly Synth Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fourstep-sequencer.md) - [Smartphone-Based Musical Instruments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artinoise-zefiro.md) - [Interactive Display-Equipped Synthesizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/love-hultn-x-lirona-synthboi.md) - [Palm-Sized Music Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artiphon-orba-2.md)
