# Bright Toadstool Lights This Mushroom Lamp is a Glowing Symbol of Biological Metamorphosis By Amelia Roblin | Published 2015-02-18 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mushroom-lamp References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/maggiolina-lamp-alessandro-zambelli-exnovo/) & [exnovo-italia](http://www.exnovo-italia.com/shop/en/home/198-maggiolina-table.html) Nature and the literary arts have both influenced the creation of this mushroom lamp, produced as a brilliant symbol of the magic of life. Alessandro Zambelli was inspired by Franz Kafka’s ideas of metamorphosis, giving birth to this visual concept of a beetle transforming into a lamp. With [ExNovo 3D printing technology](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/souffl-lamp), the designer put a broad ceramic base together with a [perforated nylon lampshade](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/farolito). Both are finished in matching primary colors of bold red, blue or yellow. The abstract insect attracts attention with its striking pigment and its textured shell, only to become a brilliant but diffused light source amid a dark room. Called the Maggiolina Table Lamp, this mushroom lamp would bring a visual punch and imagination to contemporary kids' rooms. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.7/10 - Popularity: 35% | Activity: 39% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Biological Metamorphosis:** Explore opportunities to create products or experiences that symbolize transformation and growth, inspired by natural processes. - **Literary-inspired Design:** Incorporate themes and concepts from literature into product design to create meaningful and unique visual concepts. - **3D Printing for Customization:** Utilize 3D printing technology to create personalized and customizable products, enhancing the overall user experience. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Decor:** Develop innovative lighting solutions for home decor that combine aesthetics, functionality, and storytelling elements. - **Children's Furniture:** Design imaginative and whimsical furniture pieces for kids that stimulate their creativity and imagination. - **Art and Design:** Explore the integration of literature, art, and design to create visually striking and thought-provoking pieces that resonate with audiences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Mushroom-Inspired Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/humble-lights.md) - [Stunning Mushroom-Shaped Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mushroomshaped-table-lamp.md) - [Mushroom-Inspired Outdoor Light](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kinno.md) - [Luminescent Mushroom Plant Decor](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lunalite-solar-mushroom-planter-stake.md) - [Mushroom-Constructed Room Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mush-room.md) - [Mycelium Velvety Lampshades](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/b-wise.md) - [Mushroom-Inspired Sleek Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lunar-lamp-concept.md) - [Portable Mushroom-Like Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ichi-table-lamp.md) - [Upholstered Artful Acoustic Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/buzzishroom.md)
