Zivi Farms is testing MushVision, an AI app built for Dutch mushroom growers that reads a growing bed to estimate tomorrow's harvest and weekly delivery volumes. The software reviews bed images, tallies caps, gauges size and weight, projects near-term growth, and marks areas that need a closer look so picking decisions rely less on who is on shift.

Across trials covering more than 70,000 mushrooms, MushVision detected about 98% of caps. The app is free in the App Store, and Dutch growers can try it on a live bed in about 15 minutes while the team uses that feedback to shape missing features and its own measuring device for smaller operations.

Free App Store access turns the trial from a lab exercise into a low-friction farm check, giving growers a simple way to compare AI readings with daily visual judgment. Its planned measuring device widens the concept beyond large producers by pairing the software with hardware smaller farms can afford.

## Key Themes

### What's Driving This Trend

- **AI Harvest Forecasting:** Computer vision tools that translate crop imagery into yield estimates create openings for more precise labor scheduling, inventory planning, and buyer commitments in specialty agriculture.
- **Low-friction Farm Tech Trials:** Free app-based pilots reduce adoption barriers for growers, allowing agricultural software providers to gather real-world data while proving value outside controlled lab settings.
- **Affordable Agri-hardware:** Compact measuring devices paired with AI software expand precision farming capabilities to smaller producers that have historically lacked access to enterprise-grade automation.

### Who This Affects Most

- **Agriculture Technology:** Image-based analytics platforms can reshape farm management by standardizing crop assessment and reducing reliance on variable human inspection.
- **Mushroom Farming:** Predictive harvest tools introduce new efficiencies in perishable crop operations where timing, picking accuracy, and delivery planning directly affect margins.
- **Food Supply Chain:** More reliable short-term yield forecasts support improved coordination between farms, distributors, and retailers managing fluctuating fresh food volumes.
