# Psychedelic Furniture Trippy ‘Mushroom Forest' Tables Won't Make You Hallucinate By Marissa Brassfield | Published 2009-01-15 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mushroom-forest-table References: [boingboing.net](http://www.boingboing.net/2009/01/14/httpwwwthomaswoldsto.html) & [thomaswoldstore](http://www.thomaswoldstore.com/mushroom-coffee-table.html) Flashbacks notwithstanding, this ‘Mushroom Forest’ coffee table by Thomas Wold won’t make you hallucinate. It will, however, force you to prioritize your gadget placement--should the remote be on the toadstool closest to my hand, or should that spot be reserved for a drink? We’ve seen a number of furniture and art inspired by the Disney movie and Lewis Carroll book ‘Alice in Wonderland.’ I can’t help but imagine the Caterpillar lounging over the ‘Mushroom Forest,’ smoking his hookah contemplatively. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.4/10 - Popularity: 43% | Activity: 80% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Psychedelic Furniture:** The use of bright, trippy colors and patterns in furniture design presents an opportunity for disruptive innovation within the home decor industry. - **Nature-inspired Furniture:** Furniture designs inspired by the natural world, such as the mushroom forest table, offer a chance for disrupting traditional interior design aesthetics and creating unique and captivating spaces. - **Functional Art:** The combination of functionality and artistic flair in furniture design opens the door for innovation in both the art and furniture industries. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry has an opportunity to capitalize on the popularity of unique and eye-catching pieces, such as the psychedelic mushroom forest table, to attract younger, design-conscious consumers. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can push the boundaries of traditional design by incorporating nature-inspired furniture, like the mushroom forest table, as a focal point in their spaces and creating captivating, unconventional environments. - **Art:** Furniture pieces like the mushroom forest table blur the line between art and function, presenting a unique opportunity for artists to create pieces that are not only visually striking, but also practical and functional. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Maximalist UFO Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flying-saucer-coffee-table.md) - [Mycelium-Crafted Organic Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/duk-series.md) - [Psychedelic Hand-Painted Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/collection-iii.md) - [Playful Accent Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bug-table.md) - [Wilderness-Inspired Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/habitat-collection.md) - [Imaginative Mushroom Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/white-rabbit-england.md) - [Mushroom-Constructed Room Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mush-room.md) - [Acrylic Multicolor Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lucid-side-tables.md) - [Quirky Cartoon-Like Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flash-furniture-series.md)
