# Delightful Jellyfish Fixures The Mush Lamp is a Bold and Brilliant Accessory for Your Living Room By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-09-03 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mush-lamp References: [industrialdesignserved](http://www.industrialdesignserved.com/gallery/Mush-Lamp/2926767) & [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/gallery/Mush-Lamp/2926767) The renderings of the Mush Lamp are rather seductive with the glossy red color of the iconic and contemporary fixture. The high reflectivity of the piece might first make it seem like a translucent material, perhaps making a formal reference to a squid. But as its name suggests, the Mush Lamp is designed to be regarded as a toadstool mushroom, complete with a [textured pattern of spots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/little-lebow-table-lamp) across the lampshade. The vivid ruby hue encompasses the entire tabletop accessory, achieved quite incredibly with a [radiant ceramic glaze](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/souffl-lamp). Camilo A. R. Marquez's fetching fungal creation comprises a slender stem that quickly and organically broadens into a [wide circular base](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-table-lamp). The cutting-edge technology of the Mush Lamp allows its components to pickup hand gestures as commands for adjusting the light's intensity. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.2/10 - Popularity: 53% | Activity: 36% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Iconic Contemporary Fixtures:** Opportunity for creating bold and innovative lighting designs that combine modern aesthetics with iconic forms. - **Radiant Ceramic Glazes:** Exploration of ceramic glaze techniques to achieve vibrant and visually appealing finishes for home decor products. - **Gesture-controlled Lighting:** Potential for developing smart lighting solutions that respond to hand gestures for convenient and customizable illumination. ### Where This Applies - **Home Decor:** Innovative lighting fixtures and accessories that bring a modern and artistic touch to home interiors. - **Ceramics:** Advancement in ceramic glazing methods for creating unique and captivating finishes in various applications, including lighting design. - **Smart Home:** Integration of gesture recognition technology in smart home lighting systems for enhanced user experience and convenience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Mushroom-Inspired Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/humble-lights.md) - [Imaginative Mushroom Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/white-rabbit-england.md) - [Portable Mushroom-Like Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ichi-table-lamp.md) - [Mushroom-Inspired Sleek Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lunar-lamp-concept.md) - [Ultra-Flexible Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anywhereuse-lamp.md) - [Upholstered Artful Acoustic Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/buzzishroom.md) - [Malleable Connected Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pofu-lamp.md) - [Mycelium Velvety Lampshades](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/b-wise.md) - [Pasta-Inspired Curvaceous Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neotenic-lamp.md)
