The purpose of the hub is to form a place that is open to the science community and public in the area. The museum has a winding form that is lined on one side with [metal slats applied vertically](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ucca-clay-museum) and horizontal slats comprised of glass fiber-reinforced concrete on the opposite side. Founder of the studio Stegano Boeri speaks about the design, stating "The Xi'an museum will be an architecture open to everybody, designed to activate a process of urban regeneration in the area and involve a wide audience – from technology enthusiasts to children and students. A place of study, in-depth analysis, research and technological innovation, in the heart of one of the most important cities in Chinese history."
