British designer Peter Saville has just released a [series of glassware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/le-verre-bonbon) for the [Museum of Science and Industry](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shenzhen-natural-history) in Manchester. Taking inspiration from both of the museum's subjects, the set of [three vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grid-vase) are an homage to Manchester as a whole.

The shapes of the three pieces of glassware draw clear connections to scientific equipment, looking alternately like a volumetric flask, a graduated cylinder, and an Erlenmeyer flask. The flasks also have an etched pattern of diagonal lines, a reference to Manchester's industrial history.

The diagonal stripes are the same pattern that is used on hazard road markings -- a pattern that Manchester locals are highly familiar with. Further, legendary Manchester nightclub 'La Hacienda' has famously appropriated the pattern for its dance floor.
