# Mesmerizing Museum Designs This Shenzhen Museum Embraces Deconstructivist Design Principles By Rahul Kalvapalle | Published 2016-10-05 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/museum-designs References: [newatlas](http://newatlas.com/coop-himmelblau-mocape-shenzhen/45753/) & [coop-himmelblau.at](http://www.coop-himmelblau.at/architecture) The [Museum of Contemporary Art & Planning Exhibition](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dubai-museum-of-art) in the Chinese city of Shenzhen is truly a masterful piece of architectural work in that it manages to embrace a post-modern museum design that is impossible to ignore from the outside, while promising plentiful interior space to enhance visitor experience and engagement. This museum design revolves around a so-called 'Cloud' section that acts as a visitor hub of sorts. This hub is then connected to the key exhibition halls via a series of ramps and bridges. The outside of this [contemporary art museum](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-lucas-museum-of-narrative-arts) and exhibition space features ample use of glazing, while the generous use of glass is designed to amplify the amount of [natural light](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/naoshima-new-museum-of-art) on the inside. Breathtaking to look at and even more enjoyable to walk around, the Museum of Contemporary Art & Planning Exhibition is a great example of architecture finding a middle ground between functionality and aesthetic appeal. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.7/10 - Popularity: 77% | Activity: 55% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Deconstructivist Architecture:** Explore and innovate on building design that challenges traditional norms by playing with shapes and geometries. - **Visitor-focused Museums:** Create engaging and dynamic experiences for museum-goers by prioritizing layout and accessibility. - **Natural Lighting in Architecture:** Incorporate sustainable practices into building designs by maximizing natural light sources. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Museum Exhibitions and Design:** Experiment with new and interesting approaches to museum design in order to create more unique and engaging spaces. - **Contemporary Architecture:** Continue to evolve architectural design by exploring unconventional shapes and structures that challenge perceptions of what is possible. - **Sustainability and Green Building:** Develop building designs that prioritize sustainable practices such as maximizing natural light sources to reduce energy consumption. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Dynamic Installation Science Museums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hainan-science-museum.md) - [Reflective Museum Conversion](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hangzhou-empathy-museum.md) - [Art Museum Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xiao-feng-art-museum.md) - [Color-Shifting Art Museums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-quartet-songzhuang-z-museum.md) - [Swooped Museum Roof Planes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/suzhou-museum-of-contemporary-art.md) - [Galactic-Themed Sci-Fi Museums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-cloud.md) - [Infinity Loop-Shaped Museums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yohoo-museum.md) - [Textured Glass Landmarks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/helsinki-design-and-architecture-museum.md) - [Floating Art Museums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dubai-museum-of-art.md)
