# Extreme Mural Houses Architectural Canvases By Bianca | Published 2008-04-08 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mural-house References: [offbeathomes](http://www.offbeathomes.com/mural-up-your-house/) They say the home is an extension of yourself; it's a haven where you can express your style outwardly. Judging by these [mural homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crafted-world-exhibition-1), apparently some people have a lot to express! I've seen [garage doors turned into murals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/art-by-squares), and those alone are very eye-catching, but for the truly expressive, it takes coating an entire building in paint to satisfy their desire to show the world their talents. Some are tacky, smothered in patterns like hearts, butterflies and smiley faces, and look like they'd be more fitting in [Disney's](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/disney-x-bobby-kim) 'Toon Town than a real life city. Others, like the all-black building with the funky white outline of a woman and flowers, are so hip, they look like they'd be the exterior of an ultra swank nightclub. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.0/10 - Popularity: 14% | Activity: 7% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Mural Home Trend:** Opportunity for artists and designers to create unique and personalized exteriors for homes. - **Extreme Expression Trend:** Demand for bold and unconventional architectural designs that make a statement. - **Urban Art Movement:** Growing interest in using buildings as a canvas for street art and urban murals. ### Who This Affects Most - **Architecture and Design:** Innovative architects can offer clients customized mural home designs that reflect their personality. - **Urban Development:** Developers can embrace the extreme mural trend to create visually striking buildings that stand out in urban landscapes. - **Art and Creative Services:** Artists and muralists have the opportunity to showcase their talent and offer mural painting services for individuals and businesses. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Playful Doodle-Emblazoned Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sam-cox.md) - [Pavilion-Style Art Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/galeria-house.md) - [Square Structural Canadian Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/canvas-house.md) - [Geometric Colorful Residential Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/graphic-house.md) - [Abstract Fantasy Home Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/abstract-fantasy-home.md) - [Ultra-Colorful High-Density Residential Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/highdensity-residential-design.md) - [Creative Work-Encouraging Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/silver-lining-house.md) - [Cement Block-Decorated Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/small-houses.md) - [Bubblegum Street Art Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hubbabubbabuilding.md)
