# Morbid Wrapped Lighting Bruno Rainaldi's Mummy Lamp Features a Simple Yet Scary Style By Meghan Young | Published 2011-03-18 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mummy-lamp References: [cribcandy](http://cribcandy.com/home/picks/mummy-lamp-by-bruno-rainaldi/79330/) & [mocoloco](http://mocoloco.com/fresh2/2011/03/16/mummy-lamp-by-bruno-rainaldi.php) Like a morbidly wrapped mummy, the Mummy Lamp features a simple aesthetic with a rather scary concept. Thank goodness the lighting fixture itself is not frightening to look at. Instead, it will probably create an [interesting focal point](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foreshadow-table-lamp) in whichever room it is hung. Designed by Bruno Rainaldi for the manufacturer Bilumen, the Mummy Lamp is made up of [metallic ribbons](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nest-lamp) that are then wrapped in concentric circles for a deathly look. Because they don't overlap each other, the ribbons' unevenness lends texture to the overall fixture while also letting light peak through. I particularly like the [gold leaf interior](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chinese-burial-coins) of the Mummy Lamp. Its warm glow offsets the disturbing mummy reference, if you ask me. The Mummy Lamp is available in different finishes, including charcoal gray, white chalk or "greyge." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.9/10 - Popularity: 13% | Activity: 7% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Morbid Wrapped Lighting:** Opportunity for designers to create lighting fixtures with an unconventional and unsettling aesthetic. - **Simple Scary Style:** Potential for incorporating minimalist yet eerie designs into various home decor items. - **Texture and Light Interplay:** Innovation in lighting design that explores the use of textured materials to create unique visual effects. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Interior Design:** Exploring unconventional and unsettling designs for lighting fixtures and home decor. - **Home Decor:** Incorporating minimalist yet eerie designs into various home decor items such as lamps, furniture, and accessories. - **Lighting Design:** Experimenting with textured materials and light interplay to create visually captivating lighting fixtures. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Literature-Inspired Sculptural Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-table-lamp.md) - [Face Mask-Made Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anonymlux-lamp.md) - [Organically Shaped Shadow Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loops-lamp.md) - [Suspended Halo Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lamplox-minimalist-floor-lamp.md) - [Scenic Architecture Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/architecture-inspired-table-lamp.md) - [Creative Lighting Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drape-light.md) - [Dynamic Geometric Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-drape-light.md) - [Retro-Tinged Compact Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lari-mini.md) - [Bold Anniversary Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/serpente-lamp.md)
