The decor piece is achieved using a series of panels that are interconnected to one another, which allows it to be laid flat on the floor and function as a rug. The unit can be pulled up from the middle section with a built-in cord to reveal a stool before being locked into place to provide the perfect spot for a guest to sit or to put up their feet. The 'FLUP' multifunctional furniture piece is also inherently easy to store to make space for people or additional decor items. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.3/10 - Popularity: 92% | Activity: 88% | Freshness: 10% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Multifunctional Furniture:** The trend towards multi-functional furniture is disrupting traditional home decor solutions, creating opportunities for modular and adaptable designs. - **Flexible Living Spaces:** The rise in flexible living spaces is creating opportunities for furniture designs that can easily transform a room to suit different needs throughout the day. - **Space Optimization:** Space optimization is becoming increasingly important, driving the need for furniture pieces that can easily be stored to make space for people or additional decor items. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture:** The furniture industry is being disrupted by the multifunctional furniture trend, creating opportunities for furniture designers to create innovative pieces that provide multiple functions and purposes. - **Interior Design:** The rise in flexible living spaces is disrupting traditional interior design solutions, creating opportunities for designers to create adaptable and modular designs that can easily transform a room. - **Home Decor and Accessories:** The demand for space optimization is driving innovation in home decor and accessories, creating opportunities for designers to create pieces that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Ultra-Simple Multifunctional Furniture Pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chairpf.md) - [Modular Upholstered Bright Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flipster.md) - [Modular Flatpack Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/opoo-multifunctional-furniture.md) - [Expanding Three-in-One Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/expandy.md) - [Dual-Function Seating Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rubik-stool.md) - [Adventurous Versatile Lounge Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flipster-seat.md) - [Transforming Child Stool Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flipflap-childrens-chair.md) - [Sliding Flatpack Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folio-chair.md) - [Multifunctional Modern Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/florian.md)
