# Multifamily Wi-Fi Networks Calix Lets Residents Start Wi-Fi Before Move-In with a One-Time Code By Adam Harrie | Written with AI assistance | Published 2026-10-21 | Business Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multifamily-wi-fi-networks References: [stocktitan.net](https://www.stocktitan.net/news/CALX/calix-expands-smart-mdu-to-help-providers-win-multifamily-markets-e7rsqsvokym6.html) Calix is expanding 'SmartMDU' on 'Calix One' with two new ways for residents to get online in multifamily buildings, either by signing up through a unique SSID or by starting service before move-in with a one-time code in 'PropertyWorx.' The setup is built for service providers, property owners, and managers, and SmartMDU has reached resident satisfaction scores as high as 95%. Calix also adds a [resident-specific Wi-Fi network](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wireless-connectivity1) for vehicles in parking garages, so [connected cars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gateway-devices) can handle software updates or navigation in areas that often lack coverage. Planned property management system integrations would let onsite teams add or remove resident access within their workflows instead of managing Wi-Fi separately. Resident satisfaction as high as 95% turns [building broadband](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/managed-connectivity) into a retention feature for property managers, not just an amenity. Planned property management system links also strengthen SmartMDU's B2B offer by folding move-ins and move-outs into existing leasing operations.
